Henry Cavill Bond hopes soar after Aaron Taylor-Johnson 007 news | Films | Entertainment

It’s been a year and a half since Daniel Craig’s ended his time as James Bond with No Time To Die. Speculation has been rife over who the new 007 will be for months, if not years, with the likes of Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page and Tom Hardy receiving backing from fans. One of the biggest rumours is that Aaron Taylor-Johnson has auditioned and impressed producer Barbara Broccoli. In fact, during one recent interview, the 32-year-old gave a very coy response to all the rumblings around him.

Speaking previously with Vanity Fair, Taylor-Johnson said: “It’s flattering. You can have something really positive [written about you], but you can also have something really negative that can circulate. You just want to stay in your lane, stay grounded, stay around the people that you love and love you back, and stay in that world.

“Because the moment you start believing the s*** people say about you, you’ve lost your f***ing mind. You’ve lost it.” Yet now there’s a new report that cast doubts on the Kick-Ass actor becoming the new Bond.

According to scooper Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, Taylor-Johnson – who is about to hit the A-list starring in Kraven the Hunter later this year – may be out of the Bond race.

He said: “Here’s the one I heard today that was interesting. Less of a scoop other than just a ray of hope, maybe. I’ve heard Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s not a lock for Bond. I don’t think it’s right for him. It’s not that I don’t think he’d make a good Bond, but I don’t know if he needs it.”

Take it with a pinch of salt, but naturally, Henry Cavill fans will rejoice at this news given that he’s been neck and neck at the top of the next Bond odds with Taylor-Johnson for weeks.

As it stands, both stars are on around 5-2 at the bookies to be cast as the (00)7th official Bond star. Cavill certainly has an advantage at being the runner-up to Craig in the 2005 auditions for Casino Royale. However, given he turns 40 this year may mean he’s missed the boat.

Whatever the case, Broccoli won’t spill the beans about what’s happening behind the scenes. On the BAFTAs red carpet, she told LADBible: “No, we haven’t even started casting yet. There isn’t even a script.” This was almost a month ago, so hopefully there will be some official news in the not-too-distant future.
