Henry Cavill ‘delivers verdict’ on being replaced in The Flash | Films | Entertainment

Next month, The Flash will hit cinemas and bring a new era to the DC Cinematic Universe.

The picture will show Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) creating a Flashpoint Paradox and falling into a different timeline where the DC Universe is made up of different heroes.

Instead of Ben Affleck’s Batman, Michael Keaton’s Batman is at large. And while Superman never arrived on the planet, his cousin, Kara Zor-El did instead.

Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle, is the first cinematic version of the superhero since 1984’s movie “Supergirl”.

Calle’s version of the Kryptonian is replacing Henry Cavill’s version of the Man of Steel, meaning he is no longer part of the DC Studios’ cinematic universe. And the British star has now reportedly spoken out about his exit.

Movie Web just reported that Calle was involved in a recent press conference to promote The Flash, and she was quizzed over whether she had spoken to any former Superman or Supergirl stars about her arrival in the series.

The publication said: “Calle revealed that she had, both with [star of the Supergirl TV show] Melissa Benoist and Henry Cavill.”

They added: “In addition, she confirmed that The Witcher star has already seen the movie and loved it.”

The website’s source was the Twitter account Hablemos De Cine who tweeted in Spanish: “I asked if he had ever talked to any Superman or Supergirl for any advice and I TALK TO HERNY CAVILL and MELISSA BENOIST!!! Herny ALREADY SAW THE MOVIE and he loved it.” (sic)

Cavill has always been a strong supporter of DC Comics and of the Superman character.

He most recently posted an excited Instagram video of himself talking about finally making a comeback as Kal-El in the recently released Black Adam movie.

However, things soon changed for the star when James Gunn took over DC Studios.

Two months later, in December, 2022, Cavill posted an image of his Notes app where he confirmed: “It’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.”

He confirmed James Gunn is working on bringing a new kind of Superman to life in cinemas, meaning he was no longer needed in the series.

Since then, Gunn has confirmed he is casting for his new origin movie, Superman: Legacy.

Here’s a list of candidates who could be joining the series.

The Flash hits cinemas on June 16, 2023.
