Save £650 a year on energy bills with simple device to improve boiler efficiency | Personal Finance | Finance

A simple device promises to improve a boiler’s efficiency by up to 30 percent saving a household £650 a year on heating bills.

Airgon is a small machine the size of a tin of baked beans which removes air from the boiler and heating system to make sure it works as efficiently as possible.

This also helps prevent cold spots and corrosion in radiators which could further reduce the heating system’s efficiency.

Inventor of Airgon, Charles Ross, said: “The technology we have developed improves the functionality of our boilers and heating systems to a level that will make a real difference to consumer’s pockets, in a time of financial crisis.

“We have developed a device that works not only on older systems but on brand new boilers and air source heat pumps too, reducing energy consumption by around 20 percent – that could mean as much as £650 per year to some households.”

The device costs £249 and a household could recover these costs in less than a year in energy bills savings.

The British-designed and built device helps make radiators hotter by increasing the amount of heat transferred around the system meaning it uses less energy to heat a home.

Customers have reported reducing their energy consumption by 15 percent to 20 percent thanks to the device.

One reviewer said: “I had Airgon installed earlier this year and I am truly amazed at the difference it has made.

“My heating system has improved immensely, I intended to purchase a new boiler but now have no need to.”

The gadget prevents cold spots, which is when air gets trapped in radiators or when a build up of sludge material prevents the flow of water around the system.

The build of cold spots will mean a radiator needs to be bled or the whole heating system will need a power flush which can cost between £350 and £800.

Airgon also helps stop corrosion inside radiators which means the boiler will not overwork and will last longer.

The device can be purchased from the Airgon website for a one-off payment of £249 or this can be spread out with a variety of payment options available.
