The Beatles score most popular song on official Coronation playlist | Music | Entertainment

It’s now less than two months until the UK’s first Coronation in 70 years. As King Charles III is crowned in Westminster Abbey on May 6, there will be street parties up and down the country followed by the Coronation concert at Windsor Castle the following day. For the bank holiday weekend’s celebrations, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport has compiled the official Coronation Celebration playlist for the public to enjoy. Ahead of the ceremony, new research by Party Delights has pitted the 27 songs against each other based on Spotify streams, YouTube views, peak chart position and search volume, with The Beatles coming out on top with their track.

It turns out the playlist’s first song, Come Together is the most popular track on the King’s official Coronation playlist. The iconic song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney as the opening track of The Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road.

The Fab Four hit came in at No 1 with over 582 million streams on Spotify, 111 million YouTube views and 99 per cent search volume of Google Trends, making it the highest of any track by some distance. Electric Light Orchestra’s Mr Blue Sky was a close second with almost 200 million more Spotify streams, however, it was let down by a lower search volume and fewer official video views on YouTube.
