Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 end credits tease Vol 4 and Avengers 5 | Films | Entertainment

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3.

The latest Marvel movie concluded emotionally with an amicable break-up for the superhero team, but the ending also introduced new beginnings.

The first end-credits scene features the new Guardians of the Galaxy headed up by Rocket Raccoon.

He’s joined by Groot, who is now in a gigantic adult form, bigger even than the original version in the first movie.

Also in the rebooted team are Kraglin, Adam Warlock and his pet Blurp, Cosmo the Spacedog and Phyla-Vell, as the gang charge together against some enemies.

Presumably, if there’s a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 4 it’ll be starring this lot.

As for Phyla-Vell, she is the child who was being engineered by the High Evolutionary to need little food or sleep. A Marvel Comics favourite affiliated with the Guardians of the Galaxy,  this superhero is the daughter of Kree warrior Mar-Vell and Genis-Vell. She’s also known as Quasar, Captain Marvel and Martyr at various points. She has superhuman strength, speed, agility and the ability to fly, much like Adam Warlock.

Her MCU future is a mystery, but interestingly has been introduced just ahead of The Marvels, the next movie in the franchise out later this year. Perhaps a connection to Mar-Vell (who was gender-swapped with Annette Bening in Captain Marvel) will be unveiled? Meanwhile, there was a post-credits scene with Star-Lord back on Earth.

During the end credits scene, Peter Quill was sitting with his grandfather while eating cereal. A big promise then displays on the screen that “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return”.

The Guardians of the Galaxy may have split for now, but we would be very surprised if they didn’t reform for Avengers The Kang Dynasty and Avengers Secret Wars in the big battle against Kang the Conqueror in 2025 and 2026.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is out now in cinemas.
