It’s been over three years since Avengers Endgame tied up the Infinity Saga (Marvel Phases 1-3) and now the MCU has completed the first phase of its Multiverse Saga (Marvel Phase 4-6). The big finale everything is leading up to is 2026’s Avengers Secret Wars, rumoured to have massive cameos from non-MCU superhero stars of the early 2000s. There are plenty more secrets to be revealed in the other blockbuster outings before then, with some surprises having been leaked this week by a scooper who has proven accurate on MCU spoilers before. WARNING: Take the following with a pinch of salt, but be warned that potential spoilers are ahead.
MyTimeToShineHello has been tweeting out some juicy MCU scoops that include the potential return of Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. The Lord of the Rings star last played Bruce Banner’s lover in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk opposite Edward Norton, who was recast with Mark Ruffalo. Given that Tim Roth reprised the Abomination in She-Hulk and Tim Blake Nelson is back to play The Leader in Captain America: New World Order, this leak seems very believable.
Next up Batman star Ben Affleck has allegedly had talks with Marvel Studios about playing villain Dario Agger aka The Minotaur in a future MCU project. Also, Jessica Chastain is reportedly being eyed to portray the main baddie in Captain America: New World Order. This is a film in which we know co-stars Harrison Ford as a recast Thaddeus Ross, following William Hurt’s death.
The scooper also claims that Fantastic Four villain Silver Surfer will be getting his own movie, as will Nova, rather than a Disney+ series or Marvel Studios Special Presentation. Apparently, Eternals 2 will be based on the comic book crossover AXE Judgement Day, which featured the discovery of the mutant resurrection protocols and had a conflict between the Avengers, the X-Men and the Eternals. It’s reported the sequel will be more cosmic and that original director Chloé Zhao is not attached and may not return to helm the sequel.
Next up are tantalising details on Deadpool 3 and how Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returns after his death in Logan.
James Gunn has made it clear that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is going to focus on Rocket Raccoon. The first trailer gave us flashbacks of Bradley Cooper’s character when he was a child and fans are fearful that he won’t survive the third outing.
Now the scooper claims: “I said Rocket dies years ago but I admit that I was wrong. He lives.” Obviously take all this with a pinch of salt but this leaker has been pretty spot-on in the past.
