Princess Kate stuns in pink sequin gown and Lover’s Knot tiara for Jordan wedding banquet

Kate, Princess of Wales joined a host of royals from across the world for the royal wedding in Jordan.

Following the religious ceremony between Crown Prince Al Hussein and Rajwa Alseif, the guests gathered for a lavish formal state banquet this evening, hosted by King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Despite not wearing one to the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, Kate styled the Lover’s Knot tiara, a beloved piece from the royal collection.

The silver accessory was one of Princess Diana’s favourite pieces of jewellery and has been worn by Kate on several occasions.

While the unmissable accessory obviously holds sentimental value for the Princess of Wales, it also has a distinguished royal history.

Sometimes referred to as “the Cambridge Lover’s Knot”, the tiara is, in fact, a replica of an earlier royal sparkler.

The royal paired the statement accessory with a dazzling sequin gown by one of her favourite designers, Jenny Packham.

In keeping with her recent style which has involved a number of pink outfits, Kate was a picture of elegance as she greeted the Jordanian Royal Family.

The Princess’s beautiful dress featured long sleeves and an eye-catching silver belt which hugged her slim waistline.

The regal gown is a new piece worn by the 41-year-old however, royal fans may have noticed that Kate wore something almost identical a few years ago.

On day two of the 2019 Royal Tour, Kate stepped into Pakistan’s National Monument wearing the identical “Georgia” gown by Jenny Packham in an Emerald green colour.

Covered in shimmery sequins and strategically placed crystals on the bodice, waist and cuffs, the designer used a rich forest green satin to craft the original dress.

It also featured internal shoulder pads for structure and an impressive floor-sweeping train – all of which can be seen in the new pink style.

While the dress was previously available at Net-A-Porter.com and Harrods for £3,640, the green gown is no longer being sold.

To complete the glamorous ensemble, Kate paired the sentimental tiara with statement earrings known as “Greville Chandelier”.

According to The Court Jeweler, the diamond and platinum earrings were made by Cartier in London over a period of years, between 1918 and 1929. The Royal Collection notes that each earring features “a lexicon of modern diamond cuts”.

Much like the Lover’s Knot tiara, the earrings pay homage to the history of the British monarchy. The Queen Mother inherited the earrings from Mrs Greville in 1942, and five years later, presented them to her daughter, the late Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding gift.

Almost immediately the earrings became a staple, and have since been worn by both Queen Camilla and Kate, Princess of Wales.
