Today, May 24, 2023, marks the 78th birthday of Priscilla Presley.

The American businesswoman and actor has built a powerful career in her own right, but she is best known for being the wife of Elvis Presley, and the mother of his only child, Lisa Marie Presley.

She first met Elvis in Friedberg, Germany, in 1959 at 14-years-old. The King of Rock and Roll, at the time, was stationed in the US Army.

From then on, their passionate relationship blossomed, and in just a couple of short years, Priscilla moved out to Graceland in America to be with Elvis every moment of the day. The pair eventually tied the knot on May 1, 1967.

So when life events came around, Elvis naturally spoiled the woman of his dreams with enormous, lavish gifts. But Priscilla has admitted one present stood out above the rest.

Over the years, Elvis spoiled Priscilla with all sorts of gifts, including dogs, jewellery, dresses, and even a horse. Together, they would go on lavish horse rides around their 14-acre property.

But Priscilla told Closer Weekly that, at 17-years-old, after she graduated high school, Elvis gifted her a beautiful 1964 Chevrolet Corvair car, and it has become something she has never forgotten.

She said: “Elvis gifted it to me as a graduation present in 1963. I loved it! Can you imagine? It was my very first car and the fact that he gave it to me made it very special.”

Although Priscilla loved the gift, there was a downside to being the girlfriend of Elvis Presley when it came to cars.

“I remember taking Elvis for a drive in it,” Priscilla said. “But only around the circular driveway at Graceland.”

She confessed that his ego got in the way of them going on long summer drives around Tennessee once she got her car.

Priscilla said: “He didn’t want to be seen with a girl driving him around!”

Despite this setback from her beloved, Priscilla was still over the moon with her incredible car.

She gushed: “It was such a beautiful car… Cars were larger in those days so this was the perfect car for me. It was sporty in look and feel. There weren’t many around.”
