The internet’s heart has melted after a senior puppy regained the ability to walk after battling a health crisis.
Buttons is a 14-year-old wired doxie and shih tzu mix who suffers from breathing and walking problems due to multiple medical conditions and has been nicknamed the “granny potato” by the internet.
On her TikTok account, @iam_buttons, Buttons’ owner explained that the senior dog lost the use of her hind leg after a battle with pneumonia. Buttons need a stroller to go out on walks and use a “granny walker” to go around the house.
However, Buttons recently went viral with millions of views on one video after Buttons’ owner caught the pooch walking on camera while she was away at work.
In the video, Buttons’ owner explained that he is usually a “land seal” and simply shuffles about the house when she is not in a wheelchair. However, Buttons can then be seen getting up and walking steadily around to explore and even hops off her bed at one point.

Buttons’ owner said that the senior dog might not need to use her walker again. The owner said: “I did not see the land seal in the camera again, the only thing I saw was a super busy granny potato.”
In a recent video, Buttons did not have to use a sling or stroller when she went out on a walk, was Button’s owner said she had “happy tears” after seeing Buttons walk outside by herself.
Button’s owner said: “Buttons [has not] walked outside without the sling for one month and nine days…she has torn ACL with severe arthritis and lost the use of [her] hind leg while recovering from pneumonia.”
Buttons’ owner has said that the senior dog is happy and has thanked the internet for “loving this granny potato.”
Many people have rushed to the video’s comment section is praise her recovery, and hope that Buttons’ health continues to get better.
